F L O U R I S H | Favorite Details of the Red Door

Hello loves,

It’s been about 2.5 weeks since Jake and I moved into our place that I have nicknamed, “The Red Door.” Moments have been spent unpacking boxes, making trips to stores, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, cooking and settling into this humble abode. I am truly in love with this open, airy gem and each day we are here it becomes more of a home filled with memories.

Girl, You Got This | Little Life Update & Some Words

img_4286

Hello loves,

It’s been quite some time since I’ve shared a blog post with ya’ll and truth be told, life just has gotten in the way. So, what have I been up to as of late? I’ll sum it up in a few bullet points down below.

  • Working like a mad woman.
  • Spending time with my family.
  • Spontaneous adventures with my boyfriend and friends.
  • And last but not least, trying to find my way back to writing again.

Now the last bullet point definitely can sound like a shock because writing is what I do all the time. It’s what I went to school for, how I ended up where I am today and something that always helps me center myself when everything is wracking inside my brain.

Don’t get me wrong, I love writing and always will. Words are utterly powerful to me in the way that they can create worlds, characters and feelings without you having to see anything. Writing non-stop though can take its toll; I love what I do very much, but I am also my own worst critic. I had come to a point where I was putting pressure on myself to quickly write a piece, even if it wasn’t going to be my best work. That was when I had to stop. I needed to give myself a break and let life just swoop me up in the hopes to find my inspiration all over again.

I had an English teacher in high school who told me once, “Never put your name on something you aren’t proud of, because what you write is a reflection of yourself.” I have carried that quote with me for years; all throughout college and my post-grad life. So when I’m feeling crappy and I know my writing will be crappy, I need a revitalization. Something to wake my creativity up after it has been drained from using it so much. Does that make sense? Just envision yourself doing something you really enjoy so much that it starts to feel empty. It’s not second nature any more. You’re just doing it to get it done—cringing along the way and struggling to remember just what it is that made it so easy once.

With my fast-paced work schedule, spending time with my family, going on adventures when I have spare time and just having a “me moment” I had to remember why I love what I do. I believe we all need moments like these. A time where you just need to unplug yourself from social media, your blog, being creative, or whatever your niche is, and just be.

So that’s what I’ve been doing; living and finding inspiration along the way to help the creative juices start to flow again. It’s safe to say that I have a grip on them once more with this little blog post as an introduction to my favorite series from my old blog—say hello to “Girl, You Got This.”

If you don’t remember my motivational series from my old blog, “Girl, you got this” is a saying I’ve been telling myself for years whenever I have felt scared, in a rut (like writer’s block), doubtful, brave, emotional or gutsy. Those four little words help uplift me into going out into the world and just doing. In “Girl, You Got This” I’ll be sharing monthly blog posts filled with self-love, affirmations, quotes, feminist topics, inspiration, chit chats, personal insights and a whole lot of girl power made to cheer you on, and help any of you remember the extraordinary person you are.

I’m so excited to start this series again and hope ya’ll find something that you are looking for within each of them. Feel free to share with me anything that you may have on your mind in each post as well; I’m always happy to lend an ear or some words. <3 Hope ya’ll are having a beautiful week and stay tuned!

I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. – Roald Dahl

Como La Flor

IMG_5355Hello loves,
It’s safe to say that I’m a flower lover—true and through. I mean, just take a look at my Instagram to get a better picture of my affection for anything floral. I do believe it has something to do with the romantic vibes I am always all over. So, when I spotted this off-the-shoulder blouse, while doing a little online shopping, I already knew that I needed to add it to my cart; in it went, and well, the rest is history as you see. I love how effortless and soft this blouse is, and I wanted to keep the styling of it simple and sweet.

To keep the romance in the air I styled my hair into milkmaid braids, slipped into my favorite high-waisted jeans and zipped up my go-to boots for a look that I immediately was smitten with. For some reason these photos remind me of Mexico fashion in the 1900s-1950s, (peep the photos I inserted for some inspo), including the iconic looks of Frida Kahlo and Lupe Velez. These photos also made me think of one of my other idols being, Selena Quintanilla.

You can’t blame me for her song, “Como La Flor” popping into my head soon after; with that thought, I knew that all of this inspiration was the perfect fit for my latest style post.

Room Tour 16′

Welcome to my room! Well, as close as you can get to it via the internet. Home decor is one of my many interests and I’ve been an avid Pinner for years in regards to anything room related. After oohing and ahhing over other people’s rooms, I decided to share my bedroom in the hopes to inspire others, or even give you ideas on how to decorate your own bedroom.

I believe your room should fully represent your individual style—from the bedsheets to the little trinkets you have lying around. It should be a creative space that inspires you to get work done, while also being an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the world. I’m all about the cozy life, soft tones and empowering messages when it comes to my room. I wanted to represent all of my passions (including fashion, beauty, reading, art and animals) in its decor. What I created is this…

23

IMG_3575 Hello loves,

I hope you all had wonderful weekend to start this Monday on a delightful note! This past Friday was my 23rd birthday actually, and it was more than I could ever wish for. If you know me personally, you already know that I’ve never been the biggest fan of celebrating my own birthday—I get super nervous and anxious from the days leading up to it and until it is over. I’ve been this way since I was a little tot with a head full of tight curls. Does anyone else get the jitters on their birthday? My 23rd birthday though put my nerves to rest and replaced it with tons of laughter, cheek hurting smiles, and new memories I will hold dear to my heart.

Whenever my birthday comes around I never feel like the age I am going to turn until my next birthday comes around, but this year I definitely feel the age I have turned—a 23 year old woman taking on the world. I’m still the goofy, passionate gal I’ve always been, but I do feel a newfound knowledge about the world that I believe comes with age. I know, I sound like a grandma, but to me it just feels right.  IMG_3577

So, in celebration of me turning 23 I had to do a post birthday shoot, especially with the new launch of Creatively Victoria. It’s a celebration everywhere I turn and I think the delightful hue of  this adorable Giamba Little Lip Pleated Shift fit perfectly for the occasion. The flowy garment can easily be dressed up or down depending on the type of look you’re going for. I took on a more casual style it by adding a pair of black tights and slipping into oxblood boots to contrast the brightness of the dress. Together it works as a positively darling look that you can wear on a brunch date with your favorite gals or even on a park date with someone you love. I also tossed on a black leather peplum jacket when it would get chilly.

Shop this colorful look down below!I rented the shift from Rent the Runway and I highly recommend it (not only because I work there!), but because it’s a savvy way to style designer items, without having to invest in just one item. You can receive 20% off your first rental by signing up. 🙂
